The administrative setup of fisheries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was started for the first time in 1958, under the control of Director Fisheries, West Pakistan Lahore (Ministry of Agriculture) and continued as such till June 1970.
On 01-07-1987, the Fisheries Wing was declared as an Attached Department under the administrative control of Secretary Forestry Fisheries and Wildlife Department.
At present the Director General Fisheries is overall in charge of the Department on the Provincial level and is assisted by (03) Director Fisheries, (02) Additional Director Fisheries, (11) Deputy Director Fisheries and (27) Assistant Director Fisheries in the province. These officers are supervising and coordinating the developmental as well as conversational activities in their respective Districts/Hatcheries.
